Mobile phone manufacturers surely seem to spoil their customers with a vast choice of devices. Samsung has declared plans to add the Galaxy 3 I5800 handset to its line of handset offerings. The device is powered by the Android 2.1 OS and aims at providing users with social networking abilities while on the go.

The device accommodates a 3.2” TFT WQVGA LCD screen exhibiting resolutions of 240 x 400p. The 3MP camera comes equipped with AF functionality apart from offering options like Action shot, AddMe shot, Continuous shot, Panorama shot, Smile shot and Timer shot to snap up pictures. It also incorporates digital zoom capabilities.

Videos can be recorded in H.263, H.264, MPEG4, DivX/Xvid and WMV formats at 15fps. The MP3 player lets users listen to songs in a host of formats like AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, WMA, MIDI and OGG. The audio capability of the player is backed with DNSe technology. Additionally, users can also listen to content on the integrated FM radio through its 3.5mm ear jack.

The I5800 is operable over 2.5G 850/900/1800/1900MHz and 3G HSDPA 3.6 MB/s 900/2100MHz networks. It integrates Social Hub for allowing users to access and upload photos on Picasa and manage social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Users can avail of Google’s services like Google Talk, YouTube, Google Maps and more with this phone.

With the integrated Layar Reality browser, users can view information about locations by holding up the phone to a POI. The phone integrates the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface for easier and quicker internet browsing. This Bluetooth v3.0 capable handset is embedded with USB v2.0 and offers wireless connectivity through Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and All Share.

It comes with a 1GB microSD card and 170MB of internal memory that is expandable by up to 32GB. The Li-ion battery of 1500mAh is responsible for powering the gadget. The battery is cited to offer about 15 hours of talk time and 625 hours of standby time on a 2G network and about 7 hours of talk time and 517 hours of standby time on a 3G network.

The Galaxy 3 I5800 handset is expected to be available from July this year across Europe and Asia.
