Sony Ericsson unveils X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro handsets

Xperia X10 Mini And Pro Sony Ericsson plans to extend their clan of Communication Entertainment phones by uncloaking two new handsets, namely Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini Pro. Supposedly, they are believed to be the compact versions of the Xperia X10.

Both devices feature slide-out QWERTY keyboard and can deliver an open and instinctive communication entertainment feel and leverage on the human curvature design philosophy marked by the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Moreover, by merging the Android platform with signature applications and a customizable UX platform, communication turns out to be an entertaining experience via these handsets. To improve the experience, users can select from various apps at Android Market. One can even personalize homescreen’s four corners and widgets to log into the most required applications.

The handsets integrate their trademark application, Sony Ericsson Timescape, by which users can view text messages, missed calls, and Facebook and Twitter updates, without having to access diverse apps. The interactive music player also appears to apply the ‘infinite button’ to bring together all music content from the music store and YouTube. Both models encompass a 5 megapixel camera comprising of auto focus, geo tagging, photo and video light, Sony Ericsson album experience and video recording. The devices include Bluetooth Stereo, music player, PlayNow and TrackID.

Rikko Sakaguchi, EVP and Chief Creation Officer, Sony Ericsson, commented, “There has been an enormous buzz around Xperia™ X10 so it is really exciting to be already unveiling compact versions of this powerful proposition. With the X10 mini and X10 mini pro we have pushed the boundaries of what is possible with smaller devices and are giving consumers exactly what they want; two high performance mobile phones with a fully customisable user experience platform and a stunning ultra-compact design.”

The scratch-resistant display is a 2.55-inch, 16,777,216 color TFT touch screen, including a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels (QVGA). Both devices boast of a webkit web browser and other facilities embracing e-mail, IM, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, MMS, SMS and predictive text input. Other attributes comprise of A-GPS, Google Maps and Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation.

Apart from the 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, Micro USB connector, NeoReader barcode scanning app and Sony Ericsson Sync, the phones are also Wi-Fi enbaled. Some of the Google services included in the phones are Google Maps with Street View, Google Search Widget, Google Talk and Google Voice Search. The company warns that the Google Voice search may not be accessible in all the markets.

Both models are compatible with HSPA 900/2100 and EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, HSPA 850/1900/2100 and EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. While purchasing Sony Ericsson X10 mini, users can choose from a variety of colors including Pearl White, Black, Pink, Lime, Red and Silver, available from Q2 2010. The Sony Ericsson mini pro will be accessible in a few exclusive markets from Q2 in shades of black and red.

Moreover, Sony Ericsson is also planning to release the Portable Stereo Speakers MS450, to provide opulent on the move sound and the Hi-Fi Headset MH810 with remote having premium audio, remote media and call handling. The pricing details of both Sony Ericsson X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro are currently not available.
