Twitter for Android and iOS refreshed

Tweet happy users can look forward to the updated Twitter for Android and iOS apps, which recently rolled out with some fresh features. While there are some common functionalities that have been added to both the applications alike, certain attributes are exclusive to the respective mobile platforms.
The revamped apps can now be accessed by owners of smartphones and tablets running on the Android and iOS mobile platforms. Two new features that have been introduced are the Swipe shortcut and Find friends options. While the former allows users to swipe a Tweet in their home timeline for replying, retweeting or sharing it, the latter provides a notification which informs them that it is possible to quickly find friends who are on Twitter when they are uploading contacts’ email addresses and phone numbers.
iPhone users can experience the various new features that version 4.1 of the application brings along. They can change the font setting with the click of a tab and mark all direct messages as read. Apple smartphone owners can also copy and paste Tweets and user profiles.
The official Twitter blog states that in the earlier version, users were only allowed to copy or email a link to a Tweet via the ‘share’ feature. However, the refreshed tool now displays the option of tweeting, copying and mailing that link or even reading it later. Twitter for Android has been optimized to operate on devices powered by the new Ice Cream Sandwich OS as well as on the Kindle Fire, the Barnes & Noble Nook Color and Nook Tablet.
The updated Twitter for Android and iOS apps can now be downloaded for free from the Android Market and the App Store, respectively.
