Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play was unquestionably one of the most highly anticipated smartphones around the time of its official launch at the MWC. At this year’s GDC, Sony Ericsson’s Platform Software Development team leader, Kim Ahlstrom, and Michael Breslin, Marketing VP at Glu Mobile, will be discussing how developers can optimize their offerings on the Xperia Play for enhanced gaming experiences.
The companies will talk about the various options offered to developers in order to come up with numerous gaming apps for the smartphone, according to the official Sony Ericsson Developer blog. As reported by us earlier, the Xperia Play is the first PlayStation-certified device. Sony Ericsson has signed on board various key publishers such as Electronic Arts, Fishlabs, Gamehouse, Namco Bandai Networks and more to provide titles tailored for it. Games lined up for this handset include The Sims 3, FIFA 10, Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed.
In a previous post on the Sony Ericsson Developers blog, the company had provided developers with an overview of the hardware keys and a set of gamepad recommendations and guidelines. The said post also offers a handy reference for creating innovative games based on standard hardware and software key functionality for overall consistent gameplay on the Xperia Play. With the gaming capabilities extended by this phone, it’s probably not that surprising to see it at the GDC.
