Mozilla’s Firefox 4 beta 1 browser packed with desktop-like features was released in the last quarter of 2010 for Android and Maemo devices. In a recent development, Mozilla has announced the availability of Firefox 4 beta 5 for Android powered handsets and the Nokia N900.

Firefox 4 beta for mobile is based on the same technology as Firefox 4 used for desktop computers. Mozilla claims that major updates haven’t been incorporated in this release, but the developers have sought to make the browser more usable, faster and stable. The latest version of this browser has over 100 different add-ons and offers enhanced startup speed.

It even features faster scrolling and page rendering capabilities as well as improved page loading speed. With beta 5, Firefox 4 on Android 2.2 or later versions can move the profile data to the SD card when users move the app to the SD card. The user interface does not include huge changes when pitted against beta 4, while several miscellaneous bugs are fixed for optimized performance.

Firefox 4 beta 5 can be downloaded via the official Mozilla website.
