Nokia Situations

As global technology advances at a frenetic pace, handset manufacturers strive hard to bundle together attractive fashionable designs and interesting features. According to the Nokia Beta Labs blog, the company has created an experimental application dubbed Nokia Situations. The newest offering enables the phone to behave in different situations such as ‘In a meeting’, ‘Sleeping’ or ‘Playing with the kids’.

The app runs in the background and intuitively senses the situation, and changes accordingly depending on the user’s requirements. The app can change ringtones and make the device go silent or louder, turn vibration on/off and other profile settings. The mobile experience is further augmented since users can open a web bookmark or application with utmost ease.

The app lowers power consumption since the handset swaps to power-saving mode when not in use for a long duration. Individuals can change wallpapers and UI theme depending on different situations. Nokia would like owners to examine this new concept. The offering is also capable of answering missed calls with SMS.

Mobile enthusiasts can update themselves with different discussion topics, polls and tasks over the coming weeks.
