Samsung Wave 723 smartphone optimized for social media

Samsung Wave 723Just yesterday, we reported about Samsung shipping around one million Galaxy S handsets into the market. Now the company extends the bada platform and adds a new handset into it. Samsung unveiled the Wave 723 smartphone which is touted capture a wider demographic of users.

Fitted with a 3.2” TFT-LCD display, this alluring handset sports an application-centric interface and measures just 109.5 x 53.9 x 11.8mm in size. It is also integrated with the Social Hub feature that enables users to stay in touch with their friends and family regularly. With the latest Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n technology, users can access the Internet anywhere at faster download speeds. Besides, the device supports 2.5G (GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE): 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz and 3G (WCDMA/ HSDPA): 900/2100 MHz networks.

In new and innovative ways, the Wave 723 delivers on Samsung’s goal to give a rich, connected smart phone experience to everyone,” remarked JK Shin, President and Head of the Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

Users can download a variety of games, navigation, social networking, e-book, and health and lifestyle applications, thanks to the Samsung Apps store. The smartphone is supported by the bada SDK 1.1 platform which enables the development of several kinds of apps. Developers can simply reproduce more applications by using this platform for further innovations. Users can also enjoy quite an array of messaging options like SMS, MMS, Email, Video messaging and Exchange ActiveSync.

Photographers can click images with the 5MP camera that features attributes like LED Flash, AF Smile Shot, Panorama Shot, Geo-tagging and Image editor. The handset enables QVGA Video playing and recording and supports 5.1ch Mobile Theater, MPEG4, H.263 and H.264. Entertainment buffs can enjoy music player with SoundAlive, music recognition, music recommendation, FM Radio or recording via the 3.5mm ear jack.

Apart from this, the device is also incorporated with Bluetooth technology v3.0 (EDR), USB v2.0 support and 90MB internal memory which is expandable up to 16GB via the microSD card slot. It also boasts of a TouchWiz 3.0 w/ integrated phonebook, Dolfin browser 2.0 / Multi-touch zoom (two points), A-GPS, Navigation (optional), LBS and accelerator sensor capabilities. The handset is further powered by a standard Li-Ion, 1,200mAH battery.

The Samsung Wave 723 is anticipated to be available beginning September in Germany and later to other European markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia and Africa. Pricing details of the phone though are not yet known.
