Asus ROS Maximus III Extreme enables wireless overclocking via Bluetooth phones

Asus LogoAttendees of DreamHack Winter seemed to be spellbound as they were spectators of a landmark in overclocking history. To facilitate users to regulate the system wirelessly, over Bluetooth by means of a handset, Asus would be launching in the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Maximus III Extreme,a bleeding-edge, P55-based motherboard.

An expansion of Asus ROG Connect overclocking platform, RC Bluetooth could redesign how enthusiasts manage the skill of overclocking. The four-way CrossFire-capable Maximus III Extreme is an addition to their Maximus III Series of motherboards. The device comes with a string of attributes designed for gamers and overclocking enthusiasts.

One of the most important features is the ROG Connect which is a unique overclocking interface that allows users to supervise and adjust their main systems through a notebook or netbook using USB. The version rolled out with Maximus III Extreme will widen ROG Connect’s functionality. This will be done by including BIOS updating and recovery, diagram viewing, and on-the-fly hardware-level voltage and frequency adjustment.

Possibly the most novel inclusion to ROG Connect, nevertheless, is RC Bluetooth, a feature which facilitates users to evaluate the position of their systems’ hardware and fine-tune parameters wirelessly from a Bluetooth-enabled PDA phone. RC Bluetooth can also execute usual Bluetooth roles, like stereo Skype messaging, music playback, Internet access by the use of a Bluetooth phone, and mobile phone or PDA synchronization. One has to simply press the button placed on the rear I/O panel to toggle between overclocking and normal modes.

When it comes to the specifications of the device, the CPU includes LGA1156 socket for Intel Core i7/Core i5 Processors. The chipset embraces Intel P55 Express and supports Intel Turbo Boost Technology. The memory encompasses 4 x DIMM, max. 16GB. The Multi-GPU supports Nvidia SLITechnology / ATI CrossFireX Technology.

The device comes with VIA VT2020 10-channel High Definition Audio CODEC which supports Blu-ray audio layer content protection, 1 Optical S/PDIF out port at back I/O and 1 x S/PDIF out header. It also enables Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking. The storage incorporates JMicron JMB363 SATA & PATA controller and Marvell PCIe SATA 6 GB/s controller. LAN comprises of Realtek RTL8112L Gigabit LAN controller. The USB is available with 2 x USB 3.0/2.0 ports (at back I/O). The device measures 12 inches x 9.6 inches.

The ROG Maximus III Extreme was first unveiled at the DreamHack Winter, claimed to be the world’s biggest LAN/eSports event.
