Telstra brings BlackBerry Bold 9700 to Australia

Recently, AT&T launched the BlackBerry Bold 9700 for its subscribers in the US and now the handset makes its way to Australia via Telstra.
The 9700 will run on the Telstra Next G network. The BlackBerry smartphone packages a 624 MHz processor and a 2.44-inch light-sensing display. The QWERTY device also features a touch-sensitive trackpad that allows intuitive and responsive navigation.
Telstra Product Management Executive Director, Ross Fielding, quoted, “Lighter and more powerful, the new Blackberry 9700 has a full keyboard and push email service which will help customers stay connected to their email, office calendar and the mobile internet. Teamed with Telstra’s Next G network it provides outstanding smartphone performance in more places.”
“Consumers are demonstrating a real appetite for smartphones and we think the BlackBerry Bold 9700 will be popular with these customers. BlackBerry’s seamless email on-the-go experience and the ability to personalize each phone by downloading and running a range of social media applications like Facebook and Uber Twitter are amongst the features we expect will appeal most to consumers,” he continued.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 measures 109mm x 60mm x 14.1mm and weighs about 122 grams. The Telstra device sports a 3.2 megapixel camera with variable zoom, autofocus, flash and video recording capabilities. The smartphone is inclusive of 3.5mm stereo headset jack, built-in GPS for maps and other location-based applications including Whereis Navigator. The Bluetooth 2.0 enabled handset delivers up to 15 hours of standby time and around 360 minutes of talktime. The 9700 is equipped with 256MB internal flash memory and allows expansion up to 32GB via a microSD card.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 can be purchased from Telstra Shops and online from Telstra’s official website. The smartphone is offered through Telstra Business plans that include $0 upfront on a new $85 Mobile PLUS plan from December 1. Telstra subscribers can buy the smartphone for $999 (RRP) on an MRO of over 24 months.
