We had earlier heard rumors that an Android powered version of the HD2 will be made available via Verizon Wireless. But now Unwired View informs that these rumors have been rebuked by HTC’s CEO Peter Chou.

Reportedly, Peter Chou the CEO of HTC, in an interview with Forbes, cleared that HTC has no plans of developing an Android powered HTC HD2 handset. During the interview, he commented on a few aspects of the smartphone industry. But the interesting fact was his declaration that he needed to take care of Windows Mobile and give it a chance to fight back.

Reportedly, the statement passed by the CEO hints towards some mandatory contract or agreement HTC has with Microsoft to carry a certain number or percentage of Windows phones in a given year. Well, HTC may launch some other Android based handset soon.

Apparently, Chou also commented that since HTC is a small company, it needs to be picky about what types of products it makes. Anyways, we still hope that HTC changes its mind and releases an Android powered HD2.
