M1 Singapore customers are said to receive a new, easy-to-use email service, thanks to collaboration between M1 and Nokia. The announcement of the collaboration was made recently.

M1 customers will have an advantage over other customers due to their tie-up with Nokia. They will be the first in Singapore to be able to use Nokia Messaging on over 20 Nokia handset models at an inexpensive rate. All they are required to do is subscribe to any of the bundled data plans specially created for this service.

For instance, M1 customers can opt for the SunSurf Lite data plan which costs only 5.35 SGD per month. This plan provides subscribers with 20MB of free data and allows Nokia Messaging with any of the selected Nokia handsets.

“Almost everyone has a mobile handset and an email account these days, making Nokia Messaging an excellent way to access email on the go. By turning this application into a very affordable value-added service that is available on a wide range of Nokia handsets, we are confident that it will meet the needs of the many M1 customers who want to keep in constant email contact without incurring high mobile data charges,” commented P Subramaniam, M1′s Chief Marketing Officer.

M1 customers can access their email on the go through their Nokia handsets via popular email service providers like Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail, thanks to the collaboration between Nokia and M1. Local internet service providers like Pacific Internet, Cyberway and Qala also provide compatibility to the service.

In three easy steps, Nokia Messaging allows users to set up their accounts. As soon as emails arrive at the mail server, they will be sent to the mobile device. This is ensured due to push email technology.

Nokia Messaging will enable M1 customers to make the best of the push email service on the go at a reasonable price.
