Nokia Siemens Networks introduces Vodafone networks in seven new regions in India

Nokia Siemens VodafoneVodafone Essar is now reaching out to seven new regions across India. People residing or touring Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, North East and Orissa can avail of Vodafone services. Vodafone Essar’s infrastructure partner-Nokia Siemens Networks carried out this venture in just ten months.

India’s vast geography and varied topology, in addition to the acute power shortage in remote areas, make network expansion a challenging task. The scheduling and development of these seven networks commenced in the first stage of a three year expansion contract granted to Nokia Siemens Networks in 2008. Further expansion will carry on throughout 2010.

Nokia Siemens Networks is renowned for its speedy network roll out. In India it lays down around 5,000 base stations a month. Through this contract, the company claims to be the largest network implementation partner for Vodafone in India. Over 80% of Vodafone’s subscriber traffic in India is handled by the Nokia Siemens Networks infrastructure.
