Motorola makes a style statement with its latest creation for the Indian market, the AURA mobile phone. The elegant and stylish AURA was unveiled by actor Abhishek Bachchan and presented to India’s popular fashion designer, Manish Malhotra, at an event held in Mumbai.

Sporting a unique and sophisticated design, Aura claims to feature the first ever 16 million color, circular display with 300 dpi resolution. The Swiss-made main bearing and more than 200 high-precision individual parts create a seamless opening of the handset while it’s Grade 1, 62-carat sapphire crystal lens is scratch-resistant. The hand-sculpted stainless steel enclosure along with the chemically etched textures and patterns add to its elegance. Well, its not just about good looks, the phone is also designed to withstand the test of time.

The spec sheet reveals some decent features such as 2 GB onboard memory, Stereo Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR and AD2P, a 2 MP camera with fixed focus, USB 2.0 hi-speed for connectivity, Symphony browser and it supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900, EDGE Class 12 and GPRS Class 12. The battery life offers 7.3 hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time.

With Motorola’s proprietary CrystalTalk technology, you can achieve highest level of audio clarity and pairing a compatible headset with its Stereo Bluetooth technology will add to your comfort.

The Motorola AURA phone is highly priced at Rs.1,11,492 and will be available from mid-March 2009 through exclusive premium luxury stores and select retail outlets. You can also pre-book the phone through the Motorola website. It will be available in select cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi (National Capital Region), Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai and Surat.

    This is not just outrageously expensive but at the same time doesnt even have the value for money. Target market is high segment agreed, but even the rich want value for money. Why would a millionaire want a phone that way too inferior and less productive than an iPhone or blackberry for that matter.
