HTC T8290The mobile arena is buzzing with rumours about a new HTC smartphone, the T8290. While there is no official announcement by HTC yet, the company had earlier indicated towards launching some great products which are presently in the works for North America.

Cited to be one of the most powerful smartphones to be introduced by HTC, the T8290 is expected to come with a Touch HD screen apparently much larger in size than other HTC Touch devices. With a faster wireless connection, the handset is HTC’s first WiMax-enabled phone powered by Windows Mobile Professional. So there’s no HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA) support, instead you have a WiMax.

The HTC T8290 should additionally come bundled with a 3.8 inch WGA touch screen display (800 x 480), 802.11g Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, and GSM. You won’t get a physical keyboard on this one. So we’re thinking the phone should appeal those who are tired of regular round cornered phones as the device is designed to have a more rectangular form-factor.

While there are no details on the price and exact launch date, the HTC T8290 will be released on Russia’s Yota network. However we can’t help but speculate that the T8290 might just hit stores in the U.S. as well considering the recent launch of the first commercial WiMax network in the U.S. and Sprint’s XOHM network.
