Imagine a mobile phone with a built-in projector. Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it? We may have been hearing of the prototypes of mobile phones with integrated projectors for long, but now it’s not just a prototype, it’s a reality. Unveiled recently, the Epoq EGP-PP01 is the first mobile phone in the world that comes with a built-in projector.
The tri-band GSM/GPRS handset should apparently project stored images and videos as large as 30 inch diagonal with an adjustable focus in a range of 1 to 2 meters on most surfaces. The integrated micro-projection module of the Epoq EGP-PP01 should also project the signal via an easy connection to DVD players, set-top boxes, laptop computers, portable media players in addition to other video sources. With a 640 x 480 pixels image resolution, the projector’s battery can supposedly run a movie continuously for around 2 hours.
The Epoq EGP-PP01 is the world’s first commercial projector phone unlocked to feature a touch screen, media player, multimedia record, playback and much more in addition to the projector. The device also sports WAP, a 1.3 megapixel camera, more than 0.5W Super-sound Speaker along with support for Bluetooth stereo headset, MP3 and sound recording. The battery boasts of a talk time of nearly 2-3 hours and a standby time of up to 200-250 hours
This astounding communication device also functioning as a portable image projector is up for grabs through a US based mobile phone retailer. The Epoq EGP-PP01 has already started shipping at a retail price of approximately $550.
