The Opticon Mobility Group announced on 4th August that their H16 Windows Mobile 5 Professional smartphone has been approved by AT&T. The company, which is also waiting for the certification of their H19 smartphone, is aiming for a September release.

The H16 is a horizontal sliding phone and has a QWERTY keyboard which facilitates fast messaging and emailing. It also comes with a 2.8 inch colour touch-screen LCD.

The H19 was adjudged as the Best New Network Compatible Device by AT&T at the CTIS Wireless Tradeshow. It runs on the Windows Mobile 6.0 and has integrated GPS and navigational facilities.

WiFi, Bluetooth Communication and quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE are some of the features that are common to the two handsets. Both phones are equipped with 2D CMOS imager as well as laser barcode scanner. Though neither of the phones has 3G support, their superior scanning technology sets them apart from other handsets.

The H16 and H19 smartphones are expected to hit the market in September; however, the prices of both handsets remain unknown.
