Virgin MObile Logo Virgin Mobile USA is said to acquire Helio. Virgin Mobile is reported to be buying it for $39 million.

Virgin Mobile can thus diversify and cater to a larger segment of customers with the acquisition of Helio which is a premium post-paid service that specially targets all the excessive data users.

While trying to make its space in the telecom industry, its parent companies SK Telecom and EarthLink found it expensive. We hope Virgin Mobile follows the legacy of introducing excellent handsets like Helio.

Virgin Mobile will now absorb the subscriber count of about 170,000 customers of Helio. SK will continue to have a 17% stake in the new Virgin Mobile company.
