3G iPhone Listening to this might put you at ease, if you have been thinking the iPhone costs too much. AT&T will be paying much more for the new 3G iPhone. The Oppenheimer equity research analyst Yair Reiner tells us about it.

According to Yair Reiner, the carrier subsidy might be as high as $525. This can be further elaborated as $200 for the 8 GB and $325 for the 16 GB iPhone. However, AT&T is said to make an additional $480 in service revenues in the first two years alone.

Yair Reiner further explained about AT&T’s faith in the new 3G iPhone. AT&T is assured that the new 3G iPhone will grow the number of subscribers.

Making it more interesting, AT&T is said to be paying $100 for every new customer who signs in the new two-year contract in an Apple Store. If my calculations are right, then AT&T will end up paying $625 for this phone. We hope the number of subscribers for the 3G iPhone increase. Let’s wait and watch.
