RIM delays launch of 3G Blackberry

Posted on April 29th, 2008 | Filed under: RIM

RIM logo Research in Motion (RIM) will reportedly be delaying the launch of its much hyped 3G Blackberry phone. RIM is developing a touch screen, 3G-capable Blackberry designed device to compete with Apple’s iPhone. The launch of RIM’s Blackberry 8900 or “Meteor” has been delayed from June to August. Apple was said to unveil a new 3G version of the iPhone in June.

Is RIM scared of the Apple iPhone? Is the Meteor scared of colliding? The industry value of smartphones has gone down since the iPhone went on sale on June 29, 2007. They sold 270,000 iPhones in 30 hours, thus revolutionizing the telecom industry. The iPhone features HTML email, Safari (Web Browser), in-built Google and Yahoo! applications and is well-known for multitasking. Stating iPhone helps in easy access to the Web, Digital Music and video. But RIM has been a blessing to email addicted customers. Headed by AT&T, RIM failed to clearly state the reasons for the delay of Meteor. With a blurred vision one of the reasons read was call quality. This is the first 3G device for AT&T; however RIM has already launched a 3G Blackberry that works on different wireless technology. RIM has successfully come up with a Blackberry that runs on AT&T 3G network after years of hardwork.

Well, 3G iPhone or 3G Blackberry, the 3G technology is what we are looking forward to. Over a period the demand for 3G enabled devices has increased. Talking about RIM’s delay, June or August, we are eagerly waiting for the debut of this black beauty.
