With no official word by RIM, online retailer Expansys has posted a pre-order page for the new handsets. The clamshell smartphones go by the codename of KickStart and SeaWolf.

The devices are apparently light weight and feature two screens; an internal 240×320 pixels screen and an external 160×128 pixels screen. While the BlackBerry Kickstart 8210 will offer GPS navigation courtesy of BlackBerry Maps, the BlackBerry SeaWolf 8220 should sport Wi-Fi connectivity. The handsets boast of a full HTML browser that is apparently capable of viewing both desktop and mobile versions of web sites with promised zoom options.

LG Invision: AT&T introduces affordable mobile TV phone

LG Invision, AT&TAT&T in collaboration with LG has released the LG Invision, claimed to be the smallest MediaFLO handset to date. You can now enjoy mobile TV without burning a hole in your pocket. The device is third in series of MediaFLO phones to be released in the US.

Microsoft directs all Xbox Live Apps for the iPhone must be free

605 million mobile units to be produced by China in 2008

Mobile,ChinaA recent report by China’s CCID Consulting states that the country’s mobile production is expected to hit 605 million in 2008. This data on the production of mobile phones in China is way above the 550 million mobiles produced in 2007.

Estimation is that nearly 66 % i.e., about 400 million units of the total production will be exported to overseas market. The remaining 205 million units should be sold in the domestic market.

Chinese mobile manufacturers have produced nearly 279 million cellphones in the first half of 2008 according to current data. Of these 96.4 million were consumed in China. Additionally, the world’s top five vendors namely Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG accounted for nearly 65 % of the total production.
