Garmin Asus Nuvifone M20 debuts in Taiwan

Garmin Asus Nuvifone M20 Chunghwa Telecom and Asustek Computer Inc. are all set to unveil the Garmin Asus Nuvifone M20 for its Taiwanese consumers. The Windows Mobile based smartphone will be offered by local network carrier Chunghwa Telecom.

The Nuvifone M20 packages premium features like a 2.8-inch accelerometer-driven touchscreen, enabling users to operate all functions including digital camera and global position system (GPS) right on the screen. Unlike the Garmin Nuvifone G60 which operates on Linux OS, this handset is driven by Windows Mobile.

The Nuvifone M20 packages HSDPA, a VGA display, 3 megapixel camera, and widespread navigation capabilities. Way back in February, Asustek and GPS-device maker Garmin publicized their navigation smartphone business association, claiming that Asustek will concentrate upon the Asian and eastern Europe markets while Garmin would pitch the handsets at consumers in the United States.

The telecom carrier will initiate to sell the Garmin Asus navigation smartphone along with Apple iPhone 3GS and HTC Hero smartphones by the end of this month.

The pricing details of the navigation smartphone for the Taiwan market are still under wraps. Apparently, the smartphones are also currently available in Hong Kong and will soon launch in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
