HTC is the largest creator of Windows Mobile handsets in the world. It is now looking to increase its hold in the Android handset arena, and over 50 percent of its phones will be powered by this OS by 2010. However, it will continue manufacturing WinMo handsets as well.
Windows Mobile Fans now have more reasons to rejoice. According to the Boy Genius Report, the specifications of a couple of Verizon-bound WinMo handsets were revealed recently. Additionally, the renders of a third WinMo phone were slightly updated.
The Touch Diamond2 from HTC now has a CDMA version which is codenamed the Whitestone. Its specifications are as follows – It has a Qualcomm 7600 processor which works at 528MHz. It is equipped with a 512MB ROM or a 256MB RAM. It sports a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen and a 5MP autofocus camera with anti-shaking for better quality images. It also has gpsOne (aGPS and full GPS) and it is a GSM/ CDMA World phone. Finally, the phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1. The HTC Touch Diamond2 is rumored to be offered by Verizon and will be out in September or October.
The HTC Mega does not possess any groundbreaking features. However, atleast it runs Windows Mobile 6.5 rather than the older version. The handset possesses Qualcomm 7225 processor at 528 MHz and has a 256MB ROM and 256MB RAM. It sports a 2.8 inch QVGA display with 240 x 320 resolution and comes equipped with GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA. The phone has 3MP fixed-focus camera for clicking clear images. And finally, it is equipped with gpsOne.
Updated renders of the third smartphone, called HTC Tachi which is bound for China, are now available. It is a Windows Mobile 6.1 phone with dual CDMA/GSM radio and sports a 2.8-inch 480 x 640 pixel display. There is WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 for easy file transfers. It has a 3.1MP camera with autofocus for clicking clear images. Not only does it have a regular camera, but a front facing camera as well. There is a microSD card slot for data storage.
