Philips V808 runs OPhone OS on China Mobile

Philips V808 OPhone Recently, rumors were circulating that Philips may launch its very first Android handset. Images of this phone called the V808 were flashing on the internet.

Now, Engadget reports that this phone will be a China Mobile exclusive. Android-based phones on China Mobile are usually powered by the reworked OPhone OS. These OPhones possess an Android source code which has a different application layout.

Earlier, it was difficult to ascertain which UI the phone would be using as the power of the phone was off in the images. However, now it has come to light that the user interface resembles an iPhone’s UI, although the exact UI is not known.

Popular Google applications like Android Market will be replaced by China Mobile’s own services. Apparently, Chinese customers aren’t big fans of these OPhones.

Apparently, this phone will not be 3G enabled nor will it possess WiFi capabilities or multitouch facilities.

The phone has dimensions of 115mm x 61mm x 14mm. It sports a 3.2-inch 320 x 480 HVGA display and may possess a 3.2 MP camera for taking clear pictures and video recording.

The pricing details and release dates are not yet mentioned.
