Micromax Canvas Gold A300 up for sale at Rs 24000 with octa core chip and KitKat

The Micromax Canvas Gold A300 which is the newest flagship from the company, has landed in India holding onto a mid-range price tag of Rs 24000 and very iPhone-inspired exterior. But Micromax is too busy with its new Windows Phone devices lineup to release an official statement talking about its latest launch.

The Canvas Gold A300 may look like the Canvas Knight in many ways with its aluminum side paneling and overall appearance, but flip it onto its front and you can see that the back has rubberized sections along the top and bottom areas for the antennae placement. And then don’t tell us you didn’t spot the hint of iPhone-inspired design on either of the two Micromax flagships.

Canvas Gold A300

The Canvas Gold has an octa core chipset clocked at 2GHz and a 5.5-inch 1080p full HD screen. It rocks a 16MP camera with a Sony sensor on its rear and a 5MP lens sits above the touchscreen. This Android KitKat smartphone operates with the help of 2GB RAM and while we’re on the subject of memory, there’s 32GB of internal space with no talk of a microSD card slot for adding extra storage.

The Canvas Gold obviously features dual SIM card slots, since this has become mandatory for mid-range phones in India these days. The 2300mAh battery which hides under the hood is supposed to offer up to 8 hours of talk time and 210 hours of standby time, network unmentioned. It’s nice that Micromax decided to release the A300 with KitKat 4.4.2 pre-loaded and let’s hope the company keeps the software updates coming for the sake of customers.

Micromax Canvas Gold

Micromax has built itself a powerful brand reputation in India and is amongst the top three mobile device brands in the country, along with Samsung. It’s even expanding into international markets, meaning it needs to concentrate on offering prompt after sales service and good quality hardware to customers. It’ll be interesting to watch how the brand takes off outside the nation and how people react to the A300 too.

Micromax A300

You can wait for Micromax to actually launch the A300, if you wish. But it’s up for grabs through online retailer Infibeam in what appears to be white and gold as well as black and gold color combinations, with only the former option being available currently. It’s priced higher than the Canvas Knight which had hit the scene for Rs 20000.

This post has been updated to reflect that the Micromax Canvas Gold A300 appears to come in two color options.
